066_Blissful_small.jpgReiki: (ray-key)  Universal Life Force Energy

Knowledge of unseen energy flowing through all living things has been part of the wisdom of the earth since ancient times.  It is believed that this 'life force energy' directly affects the quality of health.  Reiki, a hands-on method of healing for stress reduction that also promotes healing of mind, body, and spirit, taps into the unlimited universal supply of life force energy.

Modern scientists have been verifying the existence of this life force energy through recent experiments, and medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process.  Hospitals are beginning to offer Reiki.  Reiki is complementary to all other venues of treatment.

What happens in a Reiki Treatment?

Reiki Treatments are usually given to a person fully clothed, sitting or lying on a massage table, where they can relax.  Soothing music and a comfortable environment are beneficial.

Reiki can be given with the hands resting on the body, in the energy field, or from a distance.  Reiki is not massage, although it can be incorporated into a massage treatment.  A typical treatment may last about 45 minutes to an hour and one half.  It is especially beneficial to receive three sessions in a row.

‘Releasing the cause’ is a method of letting go of thoughts, beliefs, or emotions that have become imbedded, in particular it is effective when used in a Reiki treatment.  It is especially useful when a person has been diagnosed with an illness, wants to change behavior or habit, or has a lingering effect from trauma.

What does Reiki feel like?

Reiki is often compared with the feeling one experiences through deep meditation.  It is a wonderful, glowing radiance.  Reiki creates a feeling of complete relaxation, peace, and well-being.  People often feel heat, vibration, or tingling at the point of treatment.  Some see colors or patterns in their mind's eye.  Many have reported miraculous results.

Where did Reiki come from?

Reiki, believed to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, was rediscovered by a Japanese man, Usui Mikao, early in the twentieth century.   Dr. Usui spent much of his life searching for the ability to heal like the Great Ones, extracting the information from the Buddhist Sanskrit Sutras, and receiving Reiki during a 21 day retreat on Mount Kurama.  After receiving initiation into Reiki, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi established a clinic in Tokyo, Japan, and changed many people’s lives through his dedication to this healing art.  He passed the gift of Reiki on to Hawayo Takata, who brought it to the west.

Do not be angry

Do not worry

Be filled with gratitude
